With a younger, sleeker model. It's sad, but true.

Holding down the communication fort, the LG Vue. I'd show you a picture, but you'd only see a black box. It was a little hilly, but a pretty easy ride.

On Monday, we decided to do the same ride. It was one of the most difficult rides yet. Obviously the route was the same, but for some reason, it certainly didn't feel the same.

I guess some days are better than others.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-17354922032992054512009-08-27T14:33:00.002-05:002009-08-27T14:41:00.052-05:00Fun Facts(?)Not so sure how accurate any of these are, but they are fun for a quick read:

"Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand

"Lollipop" is the longest word typed with your right hand

No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.

"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt"

Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing

The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet

The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes)

There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous

There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: "abstemious" and "facetious."

TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.

A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.

A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds.

A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.

A snail can sleep for three years.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

Babies are born without kneecaps. YEAH! Why? Simple... I need a mental health day. That's what Friday will be about... ME! Work has been crazy and life has been rather busy outside of work. So, Friday will be about me.

Personal maintenance appointments, errands, housework, baseball game and a concert. I know that some of those items don't sound me-oriented, but they are on my list and I can't think about them any more.

To be fair, my hubby has been equally busy knocking things off of his list that the baseball game and concert are an equal reward for him as well.

So, since today is half over... and the boss is in the office minimally this week... the week is practically over already!

YEAH ME!Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-4683773570747614602009-08-21T15:37:00.003-05:002009-08-21T15:41:51.926-05:00This one's for SherryI can't believe that Summer is almost over!

The trees are starting to lose their leaves. Schools are opening again. The temperature is dropping at night. Labor Day is right around the corner. Then Thanksgiving. Then Christmas. Then a NEW YEAR! HOLY COW!!!

This Summer has been especially great though. Weekend outings. Random get-aways. Celebrations. A great addition to the family. Organizing. Cleaning. Purging. Checking stuff off "the list." All good things. All very productive in their own way.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-81347268633515106542009-07-31T15:02:00.002-05:002009-07-31T15:05:28.040-05:00The FridaysI totally have a case of the "Fridays."

It takes every effort in my body just to do something that LOOKS like I am being productive. I don't want to be here, but I feel guilty at the thought of leaving. Everything that needs to be done, is. I don't want to do anything else. And so, I'll fill the next hour or so, watching the clock until I feel that enough time has passed when I have put in a "full" day. Weird, I know, but that's just the way it is.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-18027627935268472172009-07-27T10:58:00.002-05:002009-07-27T11:02:59.324-05:00Another Great WeekendLots Done!

Took the bicycles out a few times. I LOVE MY BIKE! The front shock became key at one point.
Lit the bonfire twice. Roasted some marshmellows. YUMMY!
LOTS of yardwork... weeding, edging, mowing, etc.
Dogs got a bath... for some reason neither liked it. Usually one of them has a good time. Oh well.
Grilled every meal. Hubby made very yummy chicken legs - 3 favors!

Great weekend. I am totally into my bicycle. I want to ride right now!Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-78692210066159956112009-07-17T12:48:00.002-05:002009-07-17T12:50:54.686-05:00Writing me upI recieved a very unscientific analysis of my handwriting. Here are some highlights:

Open to the world
Likes to socialize
Well-adjusted and adaptable
Spontanous and relaxed
Can be skeptical at times
Unswayed by emotional arguments
Avoids confrontation

Huh? Some of that, I agree with. Some not so much. Nice and light Friday fun though.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-32723757654901151982009-07-16T12:13:00.003-05:002009-07-16T12:15:06.153-05:00No More Sears TowerAs of today, the Sears Tower will be called the Willis Tower. Personally, if it's not the Sears Tower, I'm going to have to call it "Big Willy."

Come to think of it, I know of at least one other person who has renamed the building...

"The Big Ass Building"

Who was that again???Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-14232538459316751882009-07-13T09:12:00.003-05:002009-07-13T09:15:36.459-05:00Weekend Wrap-UpLots of highlights:

1. Tried a new Italian restaurant. I liked it. Hubby, not so much.
2. Saw the movie "Public Enemies." Good movie, fairly accurate. Slow in parts. Worth the rental.
3. Went to a local pub for a change of pace. Fun and out of the ordinary.
4. Saw Lynyard Skynard and Kid Rock. LS- Ok for me. Hubby really enjoyed. Kid Rock-Absolutely complete show. Lots of fun. Good time.

We packed a lot in to our 50+ hours of weekend, but hey, summer is short!

Now it's time to get back to work and relax.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-50647369603252226552009-07-08T13:40:00.003-05:002009-07-08T13:43:09.617-05:00Wednesday AfternoonThank you!

Thank you Hershey and the tasty chocolate that you offer. Thank you for being an oasis in a desert of chaos. Thank you for the silly smile pasted on my face for the rest of the day. MJ's "Thriller" album... yes, album... had just come out. We were visiting my aunt and uncle in New York. My sister's birthday was coming soon. I decided to purchase the album for her.

We would play it over and over (as I am sure our parents can attest to, unless they've blocked it out) and dance and dance in the living room. We'd be sweaty and tired and sore, but still wanted to dance. We enjoyed that album and I am sure wore it out in some way.

It was fun. It was innocent.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-89889487911024431482009-06-24T14:26:00.003-05:002009-06-24T14:32:39.835-05:00Organ Transplant TeamI was driving home last night when I saw something that kind of made me laugh... and caused me to pause.

At a stoplight, sitting next to me was a white car with the name of a medical facility at the words "Organ Transplant Team." A male was driving while a female was in the passenger's seat. Both were probably in their mid-50s. They were chatting.

Seems well and good so far, right?

Then I saw it... both people, as they carried on in their conversation, were smoking.

Really?

People who clearly understand the importance of a healthy body are smoking? The irony made me laugh. And then I thought... what if I needed an organ... say, a lung. And it was delivered by people who were smoking.

Gives a new meaning to second-hand smoke, right?Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-66193741194903516132009-06-18T09:23:00.002-05:002009-06-18T09:29:24.092-05:00June 18, 2009No surprises here... a birthday post.

Today is June 18, 2009, or 6/18/09. I feel as though we are actually making progress now. After the 3-hour, yes, 3-hour appointment, we arrive at the following.

I couple of REALLY good pieces of information came out yesterday:
1. I don't have a brain tumor! Yeah!
2. I (more than likely) won't develop MS. It's about a 12% chance at this point, but he'll update that number at my next appointment. Yeah again!

Now that we know what it probably ISN'T, what IS it?
Oddly enough, stress. He said it's a little odd that I am experiencing the blurriness in one eye instead of both, but he wasn't too concerned about that. In the absence of any other symptoms or positive test results (believe me, there have been A LOT of tests), stress is the only conclusion. Again, there is a 12% chance that this could be the onset of MS, but that's only the cut and dry approach.

He said that I should take a vacation, do yoga or whatever relaxes me and to come back in 4 months. To quote him, "More than likely, you'll come back in 4 months, everything will be better and I'll never see you again." I've never been so happy to hear someone want to break up with me!

So, while we are at the same position that we were in 6 months ago, I can more confidently say that nothing life-threatening is going on. Now my mom can stop worrying and get some sleep. Me too.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-33007985573370781862009-06-12T16:52:00.003-05:002009-06-12T16:55:07.669-05:00Grrr!Every job has its ups and downs, benefits and drawbacks.

In this economy, drawbacks are too numerous to count while the benefits are dwindling. Best benefit - have a job. Biggest drawback - the requirements of my job.

To quote The Pussycat Dolls, "I hate this part right here."Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-39929526097339249592009-06-08T15:49:00.003-05:002009-06-08T15:59:07.955-05:00June 6, 2009Congratulations to B and D on getting married! I wouldn't have it any other way.

For those of you who may not realize it, my brother is getting married on Saturday. He's marrying a wonderful woman who makes him happy and is the ideal addition to our family. Welcome D!

I am looking forward to all of the details (Do I sense a list coming? I do!)

1. Arriving at the condo, checking in and seeing the family again.
2. Getting ready for rehearsal. Re-living my own, I'm sure.
3. Practicing the ceremony, laughing at ourselves.
4. Watching my brother and D reach a new reality in the details.
5. Enjoying a meal with my new extended family.
6. Waking up on Saturday morning, knowing that this is the day that will forever change a lot of lives.
7. The pre-ceremony preparation. Hair, food, gowning, etc.
8. The final line-up. Catching a glimpse of D looking into her dad's eye.
9. The walk down the aisle. My husband is also in the wedding party. It will be a walk down memory lane from only 2 years ago.
10. Watching my brother seeing his bride for the first time.
11. Watching my SIL see her husband for the first time.
12. The vows.
13. The exhale.
14. The larger than life smiles.
15. No item is very long. So, it seems that a list is appropriate.

Subjects to Mention

1. It's June... the best month of the entire year. I know, you are really tired of hearing about the national holiday that is my birthday, but too bad. I love my birthday.
2. It's June 1st! Which means only 17 days left!
3. I turn 33 this year! This one is for you "3" fans.
4. My brother will be married in 5 days! Yippee!
5. I'll have a fabulous SIL in 5 days! Double Yipee!
6. Got lots of yard work done this weekend. My fingers are sore from pulling the weeds.
7. The Wings won the first 2 games of the finals. Very impressive given the tough series before, and playing both games in 24 hours.

I think that's the whole list.

Have a great week. I know that I will!Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-23602838782867504442009-05-28T13:43:00.001-05:002009-05-28T13:46:50.899-05:00EvidenceThe picture from today's collection:

Yes, that's a Blackhawks fan suffering from the series loss...

Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-6327291664501662752009-05-28T08:31:00.002-05:002009-05-28T08:32:48.138-05:004-1It's been fun to be a Red Wings fan living in Chicago. I won all of my bets. Hopefully I'll have a picture or two to share. Good times.

Next, the finals.

Go Wings!Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-11647962132113021602009-05-18T09:58:00.003-05:002009-05-18T10:19:48.536-05:00One Down, Three To GoI can't stop myself.

I am a Red Wings fan living in Illinois. That means a couple of things:

1. I represent the Wings.
2. I have to hear every detail about the Hawks.
3. I feel the need to defend my Wings and prove my loyalty by placing bets:

The Bets
1. Vs the Chef
Game by game; The loser has to wear a hat of the winning team during lunch until their team wins again. (A little confusing, but fun none-the-less.)
2. Vs the Rooms Exec
Based on the series result; The loser does a work-related task for the winner for 3 months. (The tasks have also been agreed upon, but the details are even more confusing that #1.)
3. Vs my husband
Based on the series result; Specifics to be determined. No doubt it will be rather costly either way.
4. Vs the Director of Engineering
I want to place a bet, but have been informed by the hubby that I have to gather myself.
He's probably right.

Certainly makes the series more interesting.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155023.post-37597496893194784652009-05-14T16:20:00.002-05:002009-05-14T16:23:11.565-05:00Can't Sleep, Part III was rather productive for a lot longer than I would have predicted.

It was crazy when I realized at 8am that I would typically have been walking INTO the office at that point, but, instead, I was nearly half-way through my workday.

I finished a big project around 2pm and decided to go home. I laid down on the couch at 4pm. I woke up at 6pm. My husband brought pizza home. We ate.

And then I went back to sleep. I didn't wake up again until the alarm went off.

All-in-all, not a horrible day.

Would I do it again? Maybe.Mrs. Starmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978544668435740853noreply@blogger.com2
