With Mixed Emotions

With mixed emotions I prepare to move on to my next challenge. I am sad to leave the friends that I have made. I am sorry that I will not get to see our plans for the place reach fulfillment. I am excited for a new set of responsibilities. I am conscience of first impressions. I am hesitant of the commute. I tolerate the “uncomfortable” fear of the unknown. With mixed emotions I prepare to move on.

If I look back at the last 18 months, I smile at the things that I remember:

1. Magic Water – No wonder I call them “My Kids”
2. The 3 Jimmys – Very different, but all made me laugh in their own way
3. Brushetta and cocktails after a long day
4. Crazy – An example of who NOT to become
5. Late night negotiations doing Sodoku puzzles with my boss
6. P&L Review Grading – I always was teased for my score
7. Doug-y Fresh – My buddy at the Corporate Office
8. All Training, All the Time – My motto for the year that I brainwashed my co-workers into believing
9. Vegas, Baby, Vegas - If you are going to travel for work, that's the way to go

All of those items reference a common theme – laughter. It can be so easy to forget the bad and remember the good. I don’t remember when I started the now-old job. I don’t remember the uneasy feelings that I now experience. I am sure that they were there, but I just don’t remember them. Soon I will have a new set of work-friends, new experiences, and a new list of items to make me laugh.

I look forward to that point. I look forward to moving past the uncomfortable feelings. I look forward to my new set of friends. I am sad that I am leaving my current set. I am sad that they won't stop by for a piece of chocolate. With mixed emotions I prepare to move on.
