A Christmas Story

I recently went to a meeting. During the “ice breaker” portion of the gathering, we were all asked to share our favorite part of the holiday season.

Mine was this: To drive around at night looking at the decorated houses and then come home to drink hot chocolate and watch “A Christmas Story.”

Those who truly know me know that I LOVE the movie entitled “A Christmas Story.” It is a story set in the 1950s about Ralphie and his quest to get a Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas. I have watched it MANY times per year for as many years as I can remember.

I think a reason why I love the movie so much is that it instantly takes me back to my childhood. A time when the most difficult part of the season was memorizing my lines for the Christmas Concert and waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. As we age, things become a little more complicated. I accept that.

The company that I spend the Holiday with may change, the decorations become more elaborate but the hot chocolate and “A Christmas Story” remain constant.

For 94 minutes, I am a care-free child. I love that movie!
