Officer Christopherson

Traffic was heavy on the expressway yesterday, so I decided to exit. I found my way to a main road with little traffic on it. YEAH!!! Definitely excited!

Admittedly, I got a little over excited. I was tooling along and noticed a sign indicating a speed limit of 30mph. Opps… a little above that. I hit the breaks. In the next second I noticed a police officer pulling out of a side street in my direction. Here it comes…

The lights go on and I pull over. I immediately get my license and proof of insurance out.

"My name is Officer Christopherson. We have a speed limit on this road of 30mph. I clocked you at 44. That’s a little fast considering that this is rush hour."

"I know. I am sorry. I don’t typically drive this road. I saw the sign and I slowed down, but it was too late. I apologize."

"Let me see your driver’s license and proof of insurance.
"

She looked at my insurance card and gave it back to me. She then my license back to her car.

Two minutes later she returned.

"You are not going to make my job any easier are you? Did you know that your license is suspended?"

"NO! What? Why?"

"Emissions testing. I should arrest you right now, but I am not going to. Since you admitted to speeding and apologized, I know that you are being straight with me. Get your car tested for emissions and everything will be fine. You also might want to make sure that the state has the correct address."

"WOW! I had no idea. Thank you. I will get that taken care of right away."

She then walked around my entire car to make sure that my lights were working alright and that I had a front license plate.

"Everything looks good here otherwise. Thank you for being honest. Other officers would not be so understanding. Get this taken care of right away and don’t go more than 5 miles over the speed limit."

"Yes officer, I will. Thank you again."

And I drove off. WOW! Who knew!

A mere 15 hours later, I had completed the required emissions testing. Huh, that was a close call.

Thank you Officer Christopherson for your understanding!
