I do not care for coffee. I would much rather have hot chocolate. I do like the caffeine that coffee provides. I know that pop, or soda depending on your geographical location is a viable alternative, but I am trying to cut down on my sugar intake. But I digress…
I am even less of a fan of Mondays. The whole get up WAY early thing… a whole week of work ahead of me… can’t remember what is on the agenda for the day… why isn’t the sun up… why are so many other people up too… the whole thing is very frustrating to me.
The silver lining is the free cup of McDonald’s coffee that I pick up on Mondays just before I get onto the expressway. I am able to become fully caffeinated before I have to speak to a single person. I really like that.
Today looked especially promising. There was only 1 vehicle in the drive-thru line as I pulled up. I ordered my coffee and pulled around.
The very grumpy woman in the window said, “$1.09.”
What?! How can this be? It is Monday, correct?
Knowing my confusion, the woman stated, “It’s not free anymore.”
Ugh. Begrudgingly, I handed over the $1.09, knowing that my days of arriving to work having already digested my wake up juice were over.
For some reason, the fact that my McDonald’s coffee is no longer available has really bummed me out. The kickers are
1. I can get all of the free coffee that I want at work
2. I think that McDonald’s coffee is worse-tasting than most
It’s amazing how “free” can actually change the flavor of something.
