Shut Out

So New Kids on the Block, or NKOTB, as they are referred to now, are planning a reality show, not touring. This bums me out immensely. I REALLY wanted to see them in concert! It makes me think back to when I was about 12 years old or so, when they were "Hangin' Tough."

NKOTB was set to perform in Detroit. My friends were going with one of the moms. They said it was to learn new dance moves... not sure if I believe that... but I digress. I asked my mom if I could go. (It would have been my first concert.) Sadly, the answer was no. Predictably, I countered with the "all of my friends are going" routine. As equally predictable, mom gave me the "jump off a bridge" reply. Conversation over. Mom: 1; Me: 0.

I am fairly confident that mom wouldn't even remember this exchange... clearly, I do. I was hoping that I could go see NKOTB now, but I don't think that will happen. Without even lifting a finger, Mom: 2; Me: 0.

I really don't remember the incident. I guess it was more important to you. I must of had my reasons at the time. Maybe who you were planning on going with?

I think it was more who would be "chaperoning" more than anything. In hindsite, it was a good call.
