MLS - Major League Soccer

We had the opportunity to attend an MLS Soccer game this weekend. Actually, the cool part of the experience was that we saw the game after a tour of the facility.

The stadium seats approximately 17,000 people and was built in 2006. They host concerts, lacrosse and soccer games. We learned how they can transform the playing area/ stage to any configuration within 24 hours. We toured the suites, tunnel and a few other pretty cool areas.

And then we saw our first professional soccer game. I do not fully understand the game, but I know enough to get by. The only frustrating point was the very end... the final score was 0 to 0.

Much like NHL hockey used to be, ending a game in a tie is crazy! All that effort, time, etc... for what... NOTHING! The game could have been canceled and the effect would have been the same. Soccer should have some sort of "shoot out" rule.

That's my thought anyway.

glad you enjoyed it. I too have yet to see a soccer game, but now with a professional team in town, there are no excuses not to.

I totally agree with you...why won't they have a shoot out at the end. They could do a point system just like hockey that gives 2 points for a win, 1 point for an overtime loss, and no points for a regulation loss.

I think that soccer has the same problem that baseball has. Its boring to watch on television. I think its fun to watch live, but on television the field is so large and players so spread out that the action really isn't apparent. If they want to make it on television the field needs to be shortened and they should had the shoot out like you suggested.
