National Holiday - If only in my mind

As some of you may have witnessed in my brother's recent postings, I have always enjoyed being the center of attention. Most of the time, it's a tough position to justify.

Thoughout my life I have been able to wrangle a couple of situations that most people will buy into... or at least allow me to live in my own moment:

My Confirmation
My Graduations
Our Wedding
My Birthday (a.k.a. A National Holiday)

Recently, I was thinking about the upcoming "holiday" when I realized that I only have the annual moment when I get to be the center of my own attention. I became a little bummed. I will no longer graduate from anything and the wedding ceremony is over.

There may be more life events... perhaps kids... retirement... funeral.

Perhaps kids... first, MAYBE... second, not about me... I would only be the vehicle.
Retirement... first, MAYBE... second, does anyone really care what I do to fill my day?
Funeral... this is a BIG one. Totally valid...the only issue is that I won't be around to witness it. Big Bummer.

And so, from this point forward, I will celebrate the national holiday that is my birthday!

Happy Birthday Sis...you know if you ever want to be the center of attention for something besides your bday, you could always get another degree and have a graduation party. I know what you are thinking, "hey I don't want to do all that work to be the center of attention!" I know, but based on the numerous emails I get in my SPAM box it seems that its super easy and you never have to set foot in a class room to get one...so there options out ther.
