So life has gotten kind of busy and I've neglected my blog. Sorry to my loyal readers.
With that said, a funny story:
As is fairly common knowledge, we have 2 dogs... who are our kids- Rhino and Hawk. In a lot of ways, the dogs are easier to care for than kids... with some exception. My example:
At 12:30am last night, the house was quiet and everyone was asleep. "Everyone" apparently only refers to the 2-legged types, since the boys were awake. Rhino nudged me and woke me up. I heard Hawk outside of the room.
And then it hit me like a Mack truck... that smell! That horrible, foul, nauseating smell... the scent of feces, liquified.
I leapt out of bed, barely picking up my feet for fear of what I would touch. I found a light... and more lights. I turned on every light I could get my hands on. I followed the stench to the hallway.
I found my first gift... a pile of poo... the carpet had soaked up most of the liquid. What the carpet didn't absorb fell into the cold air return (It's on the floor rather than the wall). Excellent. I looked into the kitchen to find a trail of droplets... UGH!
I considered waking the hubby and decided against it. No reason for both of us to loose sleep. I proceeded to clean... disinfect... clean. I took the grate off the return and cleaned. I must say, the feeling of cold, runny poop beneath my nails was less than ideal.
After a good hour, I decided the job was complete. I decided to find some medication for the pooping puppy. I found some and gave him one. (I did wake the hubby at this point for consultation.) I washed my hands MULTIPLE times and eventually went back to bed. I fell back to sleep about an hour before the alarm went off.
Going back to the beginning of this story, why do I think that a child would be easier to manage in this case? Diapers are an option and even if leakage occured, I don't think I would have had to clean the COLD AIR RETURN!

Dogs are a pain...but they are so much fun. It was annoying at the time but memories of 8 puppies with diarrhea puts a smile on my face to this day.
