As it has been previously documented, I am a HUGE fan of sweets, specifically chocolate.
With that knowledge, please understand how difficult it was for me to SEVERLY restrict my consumption during the months leading up to the wedding. I was going crazy! I actually SMELLED desserts to make the cravings subside. Sometimes I snacked… just a little.
My husband has a similar affection for sweets, although probably at a level closer to sane. When we returned from our honeymoon, we stopped at the grocery store on the way home. We didn’t buy milk, bread or other staples… we bought ice cream! A lot of ice cream! We bought a 5-quart bucket of vanilla. A few days later, we also bought 2 quarts of Dean’s Brown Cow and 1 quart of Dean’s Chocolate Heaven (or whatever it is called.) The Brown Cow is my husband’s all-time favorite ice cream.
Having already opened the vanilla, my husband suggested that we finish the vanilla before we open any of the Dean’s ice creams. Absolutely! That makes sense… let’s finish what we have already opened before we open anything new!
Fast forward 2 days…
I opened to freezer to get something out for dinner. I noticed that there was more room in the freezer than I remembered. What was missing? Did I take something out and forget to return it? Oh man!
Thinking a little harder… I realized that one of the Dean’s Brown Cow ice creams were missing. Where did it go? The other ice cream, including the vanilla bucket still sat nestled in their temporary home.
I asked my husband… after preparing a satisfied, yet guilty, look on his face… he told me that he ate it… and that his stomach hurt.
I find it incredibly funny that we made a rule to finish the vanilla first... and he didn’t have the will power to follow through. I couldn’t be upset… I understand the overwhelming power of sweets.
Another reason why we are meant to be together!
