Another Senseless Act

As the Western world probably knows, another senseless shooting took place yesterday afternoon on the Northern Illinois University campus. While this event is a little close to home for a few reasons, I am glad to report that no one that I know was involved.

The only comfort for those of us who try to understand what happened is that we do not understand. The individual who reigned terror on innocent lives clearly had an agenda, no matter how deranged it was. Anyone who can sympathize with his actions should seek help immediately.

Certainly the world is a fast-paced, pressure-filled melting pot of techno-focused productivity. It's unfortunate when we have so many resources are at our fingertips, and yet someone chooses to take lives away instead of bettering his own.

*To those who did survive, may your recovery begin quickly, both physically and emotionally.

*To the rest of us, never hesitate to tell your loved ones that you love them. Whether shopping, educating, driving or walking, the unexpected can and does occur. Every opportunity could be the last.
