Every so often, someone will claim to have been abducted by aliens, had some sort of odd experience, and then returned to their normal life. When these stories circulate, there are often two reactions:
1. That person has lost touch with reality.
2. I can't believe that happened to you too!
Typically, I fall into reaction #1. And then I got to thinking...
Life below the water's surface is a whole world that we don't fully understand. There are plants and animal life that exist in a way that only they fully appreciate. That is their "normal."
And then a weird thing happens...
Some 2-legged, 2-armed human decides to go fishing. We intrude on the waterlife, and occasionally abduct a fish or two. Sometimes, we throw it back into the water. Can you imagine the conversation that takes place when Mr. Fish returns?
"I left this world and went to a place that has no water! They teased me with some food and then placed a sharp object into my lip. They kidnapped me and ripped the metal hook out of me. They looked at me, measured me and took a picture. Then they insulted me and allowed me to come back home!"
Mr. Fish's friends and family either think 1 of 2 things:
1. That fish has lost touch with reality!
2. I can't believe that happened to you too!
