We had the pleasure of meeting a couple at church a few years ago. Both were in their late 40s/ early 50s. Very kind, welcoming people. We became “church friends.” As time progressed, we learned more and more about each other. We always enjoy listening to her singing in the choir.
About 4 months ago, Bill learned that he had lung cancer. The couple decided to “hit it with both barrels,” as they would say. Bill began chemo. He became weak. He no longer went to church. His wife did though, except for a few Sundays. (We always noted her absence.)
About 2 weeks ago, Bill lost his battle. He was 52 years old. He died on a Friday. The next day, Bill’s wife was singing in the choir. She appeared physically exhausted, but happy to be in a place of comfort.
I saw her again yesterday. She and the choir were singing a song called, “I’m coming back to the heart of worship.” I love that song. Very upbeat and meaningful.
“I’m coming back to the heart of worship
It’s all about you, all about you Jesus.”

I saw her singing that phrase and I was moved. Sure she is sad at her loss. She is comforted by the knowledge that God knows best. He has a plan and she trusts him. She said that she is thankful for the time that she and her husband were able to spend together. They were the best years of her life. But now God has taken Bill home where he no longer has the pain of sin or cancer. I admire that and look to her as an example of a strong faith.
I have seen examples of people with strong faiths throughout my life. Each time I am struck in a way that seems new to me. I will always be amazed.

I totally agree...no matter how many men or women that I meet with strong faith, I'm always completely amazed by it.
I am sorryfor your loss. But the what joy it is to know that he was able to go home!
AE... thank you... honestly, he was a great man with a lot of pain. I am happy for him now that he is in a better place.
